Doug Tsao is a resident of Burlington, North Carolina where he joined the firm as an associate in 2014. He is a graduate of East Carolina University where he received his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry in 2006. As an undergraduate, Doug performed synthetic chemistry work and conducted research quantifying levels of DNA damage produced from space radiation. He then attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry in 2011. His graduate studies focused on developing and employing computational methods to study the structure and function of proteins and RNA. He used these computational tools in combination with molecular biology techniques to study areas such as protein folding, macromolecular crowding, and molecular mechanisms in pain perception. After receiving his Ph.D., Doug attended Wake Forest University where he received his Juris Doctor in 2014.
Dr. Tsao is a member of the American Chemical Society and Greensboro Bar Association. He is admitted to the practice of law in the State of North Carolina and registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
